Discover 3D Printing


**CAD Camp, Discover SketchUp, and Discover 3D Priniting will all be undergoing minor modifications to mirror the changes made to the SketchUp 3D modeling software in 2017. These 3 products are still fully compatible in their current state with the 2017 SketchUp update**

3D printing is a rapid prototyping technology that has become very useful in the past few years. It allows a computer model to quickly come to life by adding layer upon layer of material in whatever shape you can imagine! to make such models, you must know to use design software. SketchUp is one of these softwares. 

3D printing allows the construction of very fast, unique and complex models. Manufacturers, engineers, artists and even hobbyists can create any models they can imagine. The only limit is the ability to create the file needed for the 3D printer. Learn how to create more complex and imaginative models with new drawing tools, model managing methods and ideas for applying 3D printing.

Available as LABCards only

LABCards In student-driven classrooms, after-school programs, or home learning environments, LABCards enable students to track their progress towards concept mastery with our LABCards point system! Each LABCard was formatted to include 2 step-by-step projects, 2 challenges and 1 final design project. Students earn 5 points for each card they successfully complete. Each level includes four 5-point cards and culminates with a 5-point end design project, for a total of 25 points per level. By completing all four levels, students can earn up to 100 points! 

With the use of the PCS LABCards, educators can take advantage of a differentiated instruction model where challenging concepts are broken down so that students can quickly master skills and move at their own pace towards a final performance task design project. Each LABCard is assigned a point value for quick and easy assessment of progress through each level and to provide students with immediate recognition of their accomplishments.

The LABCard approach is intended to provide educators with a tool that enables a more student-directed experience. Educators are more empowered to provide more facilitation, coaching and mentoring as students work independently, in their own fashion. Almost all learning environments including after-school programs, clubs, and a wide variety of classroom models, can be supported using the LABCard curriculum. 

Edventures LABCards come in a pack of 25 cards, 5 cards in each level.  For every level there is one overview card and 4 project cards. The project cards are formatted to include 2 step-by-step projects, 2 challenges, and 1 final design project.

    Each unit of PCS LABCards is aligned to Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and are designed to help students build higher-level critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We also list 21st Century Skills and Habits of Mind that we've found to be critical to the success of generations of Edventures engineers. These habits and skills were developed to give students the tools they need to meet the challenges of living in a globalized world of constant learning and change.
