Adapting STEM instruction to Common Core Standards makes teaching more complicated. Perhaps most challenging is the implementation of STEM concepts in a classroom where students have a variety of interests and a disparate capacity to learn. Our curriculum does not replace your current curriculum or add extra work for you. SketchUp is one of these softwares. 

    3D printing allows the construction of very fast, unique and complex models. Manufacturers, engineers, artists and even hobbyists can create any models they can imagine. The only limit is the ability to create the file needed for the 3D printer. Learn how to create more complex and imaginative models with new drawing tools, model managing methods and ideas for applying 3D printing.

Each LABCard was formatted to include 2 step-by-step projects, 2 challenges and 1 final design project. Students earn 5 points for each card they successfully complete. Each level includes four 5-point cards and culminates with a 5-point end design project, for a total of 25 points per level. By completing all four levels, students can earn up to 100 points! 

    With the use of the PCS LABCards, educators can take advantage of a differentiated instruction model where challenging concepts are broken down so that students can quickly master skills and move at their own pace towards a final performance task design project. Each LABCard is assigned a point value for quick and easy assessment of progress through each level and to provide students with immediate recognition of their accomplishments.

    The LABCard approach is intended to provide educators with a tool that enables a more student-directed experience. Educators are more empowered to provide more facilitation, coaching and mentoring as students work independently, in their own fashion.       Engineering Design Process

      Engineering design is all about the on-going process of planning, testing, and refining solutions, or the method of iteration. Learners typically begin by going about developing solution in one of two equally flawed ways. The first and most common is the "guess and check" or "trial and error" method.  Let's guess and see how close we get, then guess again, and again, and again, until the problem is solved.  Although students do tend to improve their estimation skills over time, this process can consume huge amounts of time and becomes highly inefficient. Other students take the opposite, purely analytical, approach, trying to work out a beautifully flawless solution on paper before ever testing it out.  This approach also becomes frustrating and ineffective, as students can never perfectly account for all the complexity and unpredictability of testing in the real world. The engineering design process guides students to a dynamic balance that involves both thoughtful planning and iterative testing, allowing them to create working solutions to any challenge.
