Your Blocksmith Education License comes with three main components:
The starter credits that come with your Blocksmith Education License can be redeemed in the Blocksmith Curriculum Market for curriculum tracks and experiences. Students then use the Blocksmith Builder software to model objects and scenarios, bringing them to life with an extensive logic system. These can be played immediately, or be uploaded to the cloud and download to VR/AR viewing equipment or their personal devices.
The print curriculum included with this license is designed to support the 12-hour Program Bundles in the Blocksmith Curriculum Market: Classic Games, Farm Sim and Royale Battles. While each course has a slightly different scope and sequence, any one of these three options can serve as an introduction to Blocksmith Builder, giving students the skills they need to pursue open-ended projects or more advanced curriculum tracks.
These 12-hour Program Bundles come with detailed step-by-step instructions for students that can be viewed directly in the Blocksmith Builder software, while the accompanying printed Educator Guide includes key terms, background information, intros, closing activities for each lesson, information on standards alignment and additional technical information for instructors.
Depending on the number of credits that come with your license, you have a couple of options:
Your education license includes a one-year subscription to Blocksmith Education. As long as your subscription remains active, you’ll receive 3 additional credits each month that can be used to purchase advanced gaming extensions to the 12-hour camp curriculum tracks or additional Blocksmith questlines. If your Blocksmith subscription is not renewed, you won’t lose any student work or the curriculum tracks you’ve already purchased, but you’ll stop receiving additional credits and updates to the Blocksmith Builder software. For additional subscription information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Does my Blocksmith Education license need to be renewed each year?
All Blocksmith licenses are perpetual licenses, meaning that for the one-time fees listed above, the Blocksmith Builder software, the integrated curriculum resources and your private domain are yours forever.
Your education license also includes a one-year subscription to Blocksmith Education. As long as your subscription remains active, you’ll receive additional credits each month that can be used to purchase advanced gaming extensions to the 12-hour camp curriculum tracks or additional Blocksmith questlines.
If your Blocksmith subscription is not renewed, you won’t lose any student work or the curriculum tracks you’ve already purchased, but you’ll stop receiving additional credits and updates to the Blocksmith Builder software.
How many student accounts are included in the license?
All Blocksmith Education licenses come with unlimited device licenses, unlimited student accounts, a set number of instructor accounts and starter curriculum credits.
Why don't you use AR instead of VR as an educational tool?
We use both!
The Blocksmith Builder has a couple of specific features that help make experiences AR compatible. Our viewer apps for iOS support ARkit and our Android viewer support ARcore.
We have support for the HoloLens and will support Magic Leap when it comes out. While both are based on 3D content, VR and AR are two very different paradigms, and we invite our users to explore them both. We even support cross-platform play between the two, so we hope someone will settle the ultimate question of VR vs. AR soon!
Are there games which are too violent?
We find some curriculum out there related to 3D/VR include killing or blood.
If there are games that include that in the curriculum, can we disable that curriculum, or tweak the curriculum?
We took great care to not do this with the curriculum — dodgeball is the most "intense" game we have in the curriculum. The curriculum cannot be altered, but instructors can make their own, and all other content can be imported as they want. We do not review content on our main platform by design. But school domains only see what educators pull in for: - experiences/games (starts empty) - marketplace (starts empty) - curriculum (starts with Blocksmith 12h curriculum, educators decide to distribute this automatically to all their students or manually to individuals).
Is Blocksmith compatible with Merge Goggles and Merge Mini Goggles?
As far as we know, Merge solutions are based on Cardboard so yes, Blocksmith is compatible. Feel free to search for "Blocksmith" in Google Play (needs to be in quotation marks on some versions of Google Play) and test the free Blocksmith Viewer app and its VR mode with the devices.

Additionally, he has both volunteered and worked as a substitute teacher at schools in the Boise area. Since teaching, he has joined Blocksmith Inc as a Designer and Curriculum Developer. At Blocksmith, a VR-oriented startup focused on providing students across the nation with the skills to develop and experience their own creations in an interactive 3D environment, his hope is to see students approach education through a format that encourages creation and curiosity!
