Overview: WHAT IS IT?
|
We don't know exactly who invented the game, but it was a long time ago...
our best sources suggest origins in India around the middle of the sixth
century A.D. It was originally called "chaturanga" and, though that early
game was different from our modern game, it was clearly chess. Chess has
been played ever since, with the modern version popping up sometime during
the sixteenth century. It is delightfully addictive, as its many centuries
of wild popularity can attest, and it's also great exercise for your brain!
Though chess is a very complex game, it is actually quite easy to learn the
basics. With regular practice and a lot of strategy development, maybe some
day you will be a Chess Master. So what're you waiting for? Make like a king
and get on board!
